Biography

Ibrahim Raufu is a Professor at the Department of Veterinary Microbiology. He has served as Head of Department, Subdean, and is currently the Acting Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He is an experienced academician with 16 years of university teaching, research, and administration.

He trains graduate and undergraduate students in Veterinary microbiology. He is a talented researcher and highly motivated to conduct research in Foodborne pathogens of zoonotic importance, Molecular biology, Genomics, Antimicrobial Resistance, and One Health. He has published several papers in reputable local and international journals.

His milestone achievement includes his isolation and characterization of Salmonella Hiduddify from chicken in 2008 and his recent discovery and patency of the 27th species of ListeriaListeria ilorinesis from the milk product “Wara” in 2018. He has received numerous national and international scholarships and grants. He currently works at his university, where he participates in several committees in an administrative capacity. Furthermore, he belongs to numerous academic and professional organizations. He has strong collaborative networks with several national and international research institutes.
